OKLAHOMA MUSLIMS SEND CONDOLENCES TO ORLANDO Attack seen as Monstrous
(Oklahoma City 6/12/16) Leaders from member organizations of The Islamic Council of Oklahoma are distraught
by the mass killing in Orlando today.
Dr. Imad Enchassi, Imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City stated, “ We condemn this monstrous
attack and offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed or injured.
This senseless killing of innocent people is totally unjustifiable. Our hearts ache for all of the victims;
for all of this violence against purely innocent people.”
Some early reports state that the gunman identified himself with ISIS. Like Muslims and Islamic institutions
across the country, the Islamic Council of Oklahoma’s members condemn ISIS values and actions as can be seen
in the online “Letter to Baghdadi”
in which 120 of the world’s most respected Muslim scholars challenge ISIS’ actions and theology as
consistently counter to Islamic teachings and values. We stand together with all Americans against anyone
who intends to harm innocent people.

USCMO Condemns Recent Terror Attacks in Belgium, Turkey, and Mali
(Washington, D.C., 3/22/2016) - The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), a coalition of leading national and
local Muslim organizations, strongly condemns the heinous terror attacks that took place early this morning in
Brussels, Belgium and left at least 30 innocent people dead and many more injured. Similar terror attacks took
place most recently in Turkey and Mali and claimed the lives of tens of innocent people.
USCMO is utterly saddened by these repugnant attacks and stands consistent in its condemnation of any and
all attacks on the sanctity of human life taking place anywhere in the world, regardless of the perpetrators,
targets, or reasons.
The US Council of Muslim Organizations stands in solidarity with the people of Belgium, Turkey, and Mali and sends
its sincere prayers and condolences to the victims' families and loved ones. We urge the world to come together in
peace and solidarity during this difficult time and rise above the hate and violence the perpetrators wish to spread.

Muslim Outreach - OETA
Many Muslims in Oklahoma say they feel just like they did after 9-11.marked with suspicion because of their religion,
their wardrobes. Language and accents. The terrorist attack in San Bernardino followed by remarks from a presidential
candidate and other people in the spotlight have created a renewed fear and a heightened sense of alert among Muslims.
Religious leaders say they believe their fears are justified because some people believe the Muslim religion is
synonymous with terror. This story aired on the ONR on OETA-The Oklahoma Network.

The Tulsa Community show their support for their Muslim Neighbors

MUSLIMS ALSO SHOCKED BY KILLING AT VAUGHAN PLANT TODAY
Muslims send sympathies to victims, families & co-workers
(Tulsa 9/26/14) The Islamic Council of Oklahoma reports that Oklahoma Muslims are shocked, horrified and saddened about the loss
of innocent life and the injuries at Moore’s Vaughan facility today. Sympathies go to the victims as well as the families and co-workers
of the women who were attacked. Oklahoma Muslims, like all other Oklahomans, work and attend school with the belief that those
are safe places to go.
Workplace and school killings are tragic but are unfortunately becoming more common in America. Every loss is felt by family,
friends and strangers. Scholars and everyday Muslims maintain that no religious or political goal is ever achieved by these acts.
The Alabama UPS workplace murders last week are just as upsetting.
Mr. Nolen, the alleged assailant, has been reported by media outlets as having been just fired from his job and that he is a recent
convert to Islam. According to Sheryl Siddiqui, Spokesperson for the Islamic Council of Oklahoma, “He was not known to any of the
leadership in Oklahoma mosques. We do not have any confirmation of his conversion either in prison or out in the community.”
Muslims are supporting law enforcement efforts to perform their due diligence and seek justice in this case.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)
On May 2, 2014, the first confirmed case was reported in a traveler to the United States.
Since members of our community are more likely to to travel to Saudi Arabia and
other countries in which MERS has been reported its important that we all know about
this illness. Please visit CDC web site www.cdc.gov to get more information.
If you have travelled to any of the listed countries in which cases have been reported in the recent past and come up with respiratory symptoms contact your physician and take measures to avoid exposures to others by taking precautions similar to those which we use for prevention of spread of other respiratory illnesses such as flu, including avoiding coming to mosque for congregational prayers and praying at home.
Further information regarding this infection is available at CDC s website mentioned above.
